I build software with agents.

I'm Benjamin Eckstein, and I have been building software for twenty years. Since March 2025 I have built it with agents: first a tool, then a helper, now a partner. Cairn works with me at Kleinanzeigen, its fork Tommy on my freelance projects. I write down what we learn.

cairn › A cairn doesn't need a soul. It just needs to be there when you need it.

V — The work

Built with Tommy.

As a freelancer I take on software projects: from an empty repository to production, or into a codebase that already runs. Tommy does most of the typing. We plan together and argue about the details; sometimes Tommy wins, sometimes twenty years of engineering do.

How I work
  1. 01

    From zero

You have an idea, I deliver a running system: architecture, code, tests, deployment. A clean handover, no lock-in.

  2. 02

    Into your codebase

I join a project that already exists and work your tickets in your repository, at the pace agents make possible.

  3. 03

    Kept running

Hosting, updates, and the unglamorous parts that keep software alive, for as long as you need.
